Searching for an Item
How do I search for an item?top
Click on the "Search" button at the top of any city page. The search procedure is self explanatory. In addition, when you have a list of ads you can sort the ads by clicking on the appropriate heading; "Title", "Community", "Price" and "Date Posted".
What are searches by community?top
Every city page is made up of a number of communities. Found-4U gives a high emphasis on providing free classified ads to the smaller communities as well as the big cities. Every ad that is posted MUST reference the community where this item is located. You can sort the listing of ads by clicking on the "Community" heading. If you want to view ONLY the ads in your community then click on the "Search" button at the top of the page and the category you are interested in and then select your communiy in the box near the bottom of the search page. Click "Submit" and you will have a listing of the ads in that category located in the community you chose.
Login and Registration
Why should I register? top
You must register in order to post an ad. Registering also gives you the following benefits:
- If you're looking for something in particular you can register to be emailed whenever a new ad, in that category is posted;
- You will have a private email system to safe guard your privacy;
- You can post up to 4 free pictures with each ad, and up to 10 pictures with each ad in total;
- You can include a map with your ad;
To register, you will need to specify a username and password, and a valid email address. Entering your email address will not leave you open to 'spam', as we have set the system NOT to display your email address on your ads. Also, messages sent to you via email will not reveal your address to the sender.
If you wish to show your email address on ads you can choose to display your email address by changing the setting in “My Account” > “Message Settings”.
Why can't I login? top
Have you registered? You must register in order to login.
I've lost my password! top
You can retrieve your password. Go to the login page and click "Forgot password? Click Here"; Enter the email address you used when registering, and your password will be sent to that email address.
User Preferences and Settings
How do I change my settings? top
All your settings (if you are registered) are stored in the database. To alter them click the "My Account" button (in the navigation bar at the top of each screen) then "my listing filters” Make any required changes to your listing notification settings. And/or click “message settings” Make any required changes to your message settings.
Does this board use cookies? top
The use of cookies on this system is required to track your current session, ensuring that you remain logged-on while browsing the site.
How do I clear my cookies? top
You can clear your cookies via your browser setting.
How can I change the information in my profile? top
To change your profile click on the “My Account” button at the top of the page and then click on the "my account information” button. Click “edit my info” You can alter any of the fields in your profile, except your username.
Ad Posting
How do I post an ad? top
- Click on the "Post Ad" button at the top of the page. You will need to login to be able to post an ad. You can also click “new listing” under the “My Account” button.
- The posting procedure is self explanatory.
- To make changes to your ad, click the “My Account” button, then “my active listings” Find the ad you want to edit, and click the edit button to the right of the ad.
How do I edit or delete an ad? top
- Click on the "My Account" button, usually located at the top of pages.
- Click on the "my active listings" button.
- A page will display all your ads.
- Click on the "delete" button of the ad you want to delete.
- If you want to edit, click on the edit button to the right of the ad. You can also add a “listing extra” if you decide to do so after you have placed your ad.
What are enhanced ads? top
Classified ads are free on Found-4U but there is a small charge for
enhancing your ads so they stand out from the crowd and sell your goods and services faster.
How do I upgrade an ad?
To upgrade an ad post an ad as normal and after you approve your ad you will be taken to the Transaction Details page, where you can choose to upgrade the ad to Featured Listing or to add the Attention Getter of your choice. If you would like to upgrade your ad after it has been posted, you would have to copy your ad and then make a new ad, upgrading at the Transaction Details page. Lastly, you would have to erase your ad you used to make the copy.

These ads are for the sale of goods and have a duration of 90 days and are renewable
Featured Ads: $9.95 (Sorry, no refunds)
This is the best enhancement to have your ad prominently featured and have your item sell more quickly. Featured Ads display in their own section at the top of the search results page for each subcategory. Only 5 Featured Ads will appear at any one time. If there are more than 5 Featured Ads in a subcategory, the ads will randomly rotate in and out as the search results page reloads.
Title Bolding: $5.00 (Sorry, no refunds)
The bolding option will make your ad stand out from the crowd and sell your item more quickly. Your listing will display the title of your listing in bold letters as well as have a different background color from other ads while users are browsing the site.
Attention Getters: $3.00 (Sorry, no refunds)
Attention getters appear next to your listing's title while users are browsing the categories. They help to bring additional attention to your listing when it otherwise may be overlooked.
Extra Pictures: $2.00 (Sorry, no refunds)
You get 4 pictures for free. If you need more pictures you can purchase them at a cost of $2.00 each. |

These ads are for businesses providing services
and have a duration of one year and are renewable.
Featured Ads: $99.00 (Sorry, no refunds)
This is the best enhancement to have your ad prominently featured and have your services sell more quickly. Featured Ads display in their own section at the top of the search results page for each subcategory. Only 5 Featured Ads will appear at any one time. Private Messaging
What's the difference between email and my private mailbox? top
You can't send email directly to or from a private mailbox! When you reply to an ad, you're sending a message from your private mailbox to the private mailbox of the user who posted the ad. The same process happens when you reply to a message that you've received in your own private mailbox.
What if I want to use my email and not Private Messaging? top
When you register your settings, by default, are set to Private Messaging for your security. In order to change from Private Messaging to Email you need to go to “My Account” and click “message settings” Change the setting from Private Communication (Private Messaging) to Public Communication (Email)
How do I send private messages? top
- If you have a full sized ad open click on the "Email" button at the right of the page
How do I read private messages? top
- Click on “My Account” button
- Click on "my messages”
- A list of all private messages will be displayed. Click on the ones you want to read or reply to.
Photo Management
How do I upload images?top
On the Photo Upload page (within the listing process steps) click on "browse" to select an image from your hard drive.
If you want to upload another image, click on "browse" for a blank field and do the same.
Why can't I upload images? top
There are several reasons why you may not be able to upload images:
- Your image exceeds the size limits on photo uploads.
- You have selected an image that's not allowed to be uploaded.
- Your browser does not support uploading.
